Abstract
Rose Damascena is one of the native plants of Iran. This plant has had many roles and uses in the lives of Iranians for a long time. due to the political stability and the writing of travelogues by European travelers, there is valuable information about the importance and uses of this fragrant plant in the lives of Iranians in the Safavid era.This research investigates the position and uses of rose Damascena and its products such as rose water and rose oil in the Iranian culture of the Safavid period with the descriptive-analytical method and using library sources. In order to carry out the current research, the cultivation of rose Damascena, preparation of rose water and rose oil, ceremonies related to rose Damascenae and various uses of rose Damascena and rose water have been investigates. Based on the findings of this research, rose cultivation and its processing were common throughout Iran during the Safavid era, and this issue also attracted the attention of European travelers. The use of roses Damascena and rose water was a part of Iranian customs, especially in celebrations. The commercial, medicinal and food functions of rose Damascena and rose water were the main reason for the spread rose cultivation in Iran the Safavid era .
