Analysis of the consequences of the entry of media into religious rituals in contemporary Iran

Abstract

With the transformation among social institutions, the institution of the religious body is also seeking to redefine its position. In the meantime, the extended relationship between religious bodies and the media is eye-catching. The phenomenon of media coverage of the religious body can take its role out of its main function, which is the revival of the Ahl al-Bayt. In this article, we answer the question, "What have been the developments of religious bodies in the face of new media and the consequences of the introduction of new media to religious bodies after the Islamic Revolution?". The research method is qualitative and descriptive-analytical. In this article, data has been collected using the library and document method. More than 30 exclusive interviews were reviewed to compile the content. Then, using the mentioned method and thematic analysis, the required content was extracted. In this article, we found out that the religious body as Shia media was born in the context of social developments and was affected in the context of media developments. In this way, they have always been in contact with the media and have had an impact and influence. These effects have progressed to the extent that the nature of the religious body is in serious danger.
