The author extensively surveys the life of Ismāʿil Jorjāni, the Persian-writing physician of the 5th and 6th centuries AH, and his scholarly career. He then discusses the content and structure of the Zakhirah-i Khwārazmshāhi and its translations into Arabic, Hebrew, Turkish, and Urdu. The article concludes with an examination of the characteristics contributing to its universalization, its medical terminology, and introduction of its available manuscripts.
