Iran and Persianate Culture in the Indian Ocean World constitutes the first interdisciplinary study exploring the historical connections between Iranians and the peoples and polities of the Indian Ocean region. The author’s objective is to bring together the perspectives of leading scholars who have examined the diverse dimensions of Iranian interactions with the Indian Ocean world from antiquity to the present. In doing so, the volume seeks to present a comprehensive account of the history of the Persianate cultural sphere and its enduring relationship with the Indian Ocean.
