Employing fluent, elegant, and at times poetic prose, the author examines the central section of Dr. Zia Movahhed’s Khāb-e Āshofte-ye Naft (The Troubled Dream of Oil), which focuses on Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh and Iran’s National Movement. The author argues that this work offers a critical analysis of the historical context and consequences of a pivotal national events—the nationalization of the oil industry—and provides insights into the role of its principal leader, Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh.
