The history of endowment or waqf in Iran dates back to pre-Islamic times. One of the important functions of the endowment is to contribute to the welfare and comfort of the general public. Considering the scarcity of water in Iranian land and the importance of water supply systems in the economy of human societies, providing water in Iran has always been a very valuable and charitable activity. Timur's attacks and conflicts between princes, emirs, and natural factors had destroyed the water supply systems during the period of Timur's successors (807-911 AH), so it was necessary to create and reconstruct these facilities and utilize all capacities in this direction. This research, using a descriptive-analytical method and library resources, examines the role of endowment in the development of water supply systems during the time of Timur's successors. The research findings indicate that the actions of Timur's successors in creating and reviving water supply systems took place during the reign of Shahrukh Timurid, Sultan Abu Sa'id, and Sultan Hussein Bayqara, mostly in the eastern regions of Iran, namely Herat and parts of Khorasan, and the development of water supply systems in the other areas such as Yazd, Isfahan, and the southern regions of Fars was carried out by utilizing the capacity of the endowment institution and by various groups of society such as officials, rulers, local elders, and mystics.
