Among the famous Shiite families that have played an important role in the development of Shiite culture in general is the Hasani Tabataba'i family, which is of particular importance due to its antiquity. Among the Zaidi Imams attributed to the Tabataba family, a greater role can be given to Imam Yahya ibn Husayn ibn Qasim ibn Ibrahim al-Russi, nicknamed Imam al-Hadi al-Haqq (died 298 AH). Because in addition to being a pioneer of the Zaydi Shiite culture, he is also considered one of the founders of the Zaydi state in Yemen. His comprehensive works indicate that he introduced an effective intellectual trend in the field of Zaydi knowledge. By writing jurisprudential and theological books, he quickly strengthened the intellectual and jurisprudential-religious trend of the Zaydis, and was able to overcome the two religious trends of the Ismaili Shia and the Sunni Shafi'i sect and succeeded in promoting the Zaydi culture in Yemen. Combining his works and writings with the jurisprudential and theological views and theories of his grandfather Qasim bin Ibrahim al-Rassi (died 246 AH), in addition to the internal influences of Hanafi jurisprudence and cultural pressures of the jurists of Medina and the solidity of the Mu'tazilite theology, he also infers verses from the Holy Quran to prove some of his beliefs. The present study seeks to answer the question of what was the intellectual and cultural legacy of the founder of the Zaydi state of Yemen and what impact did he have on the process of perpetuation of the Zaydi culture in Yemen.
